Sparks but no fire
Date: 09 November 2009
We managed to get it sparking, which was pretty cool, but we couldn't actually create fire, despite trying paper and dry twigs.

Not that good
Date: 23 October 2009
This device is supposed to make lighting fires and barbecues easily but it has not been my experience. You scrape a piece of metal down the metal shaft of the device and it produces an impressive spark. However I have tried to light various types of paper with it but no luck. I think you need to use something like shredded paper, cotton wool or wood shavings but do you necessarily have these to hand when you want to create a fire?

Firesteel

This is BRILLIANT... it has turned my gentle giant of a man into an arsonist version of Ray Mears.
He has shown it off to anybody that breathes.. and has used it so much in this last week, that I think I will be ordering a new one soon (even though it does have 12000 strikes)
:o)
