Xploda is the type of game that puts your heart in your mouth, though not in a Hannibal Lecter way. It's a bit like Russian Roulette, except that the bang at the end isn't terminal unless you suffer from a dodgy ticker.You play the game by inserting an inflated balloon into the Xploda, pressing the Randomiser button, and passing it round a group of friends. There's a wheel of fortune type spinny thing in the middle which each person spins, and it decides whether you spin again, pass it to your left, right, or have the happy choice of giving it to anyone at random in the group. This is all very jolly, but deep in the machine a time bomb is ticking away, and at an indeterminate time a tiny needle will zip out of the unit and pop the balloon. You never know when it's going to happen, it could be in a matter of seconds, or minutes, but whenever it happens you can be sure whoever's holding the Xploda at the time will jump out of their skin (possibly into someone else's) and shriek like a banshee - all of which is well worth the wait. It's not for the faint-hearted, but Xploda is a brilliant nail-biting game that's almost more fun and tense to watch than it is to play.
